Holidays are mostly over and children back to school, getting back to normal after a very hot ,dry summer.

We have a few firsts this year - Angela was invited to Greystones WI  to give a talk on Women in Farming and the farming year , and then early in June the group were welcomed to the farm (with Jerusalem being sung , of course) and had a farm walk and BBQ.

Jim & Angela were invited to King Ecgberts School Food tech lesson , where we did a butchery demonstration and talked about the farm and what we produced. 

Like most farmers we have enjoyed most of the good weather, but it has affected our crops - less corn and grass produced although harvesting it was relatively easy! And our growing costs were high with the price of fuel being so expensive. Been a tough summer!

We have been glad of the rain over the last couple of weeks to get the grass growing - we have been short of grazing for the sheep . Our new seasons lambs are later finishing this year due the the shortage of grass.

New seasons lamb is now in the shop.

We have to think about Christmas in January to pre order our young birds. Christmas Geese arrived at the end of May as day old goslings , now grazing the front field by day and brought inside each evening away from any predators.

The turkey chicks arrived this weekend and are safe and cosy in the straw bedded barns ,away from any harsh weather which we will affect our high up on the hill farm!
